The Professional Educators Collaborative Conferencing Act of 2011 has replaced the collective bargaining laws for teachers in the state of Tennessee.  The Board established a “Special Question Committee” to conduct a confidential poll of eligible professional employees to determine if a majority of these employees express a desire to participate in collaborative conferencing.  Knox County Schools will hold its Special Question Poll beginning November 17 through midnight November 22, 2011.

NEW GRADUATES LICENSURE INFORMATION
What "Pending"  means to first time license application (message adapted from email received from Vance Rugaard, Executive Director, Teacher)

Tennessee "traditional" teacher preparation programs produce about 3500 new grads per year.  The vast majority of these are spring graduates and their applications for initial licensure arrive at the SDE in May and June.  Obviously, it takes a good deal of time to process all of these applications. This article explains the State Department of Education's new graduate license approval process and hopes to alleviate apprehension while waiting for that first teaching license.
